Why Choose the Fisher Profession?

Fishing in Brighter Shores is one of the game’s most versatile professions, providing players with a unique way to obtain valuable resources that are used in other professions, such as Chef and Alchemist. Moreover, fishing is an excellent source of coins, and with the right tools and strategies, you can achieve a steady stream of income while exploring this wonderful profession in Brighter Shores.

Getting Started: Unlocking the Fisher Profession

As soon as you complete the tutorial for Episode 1 (Hopeport), you will be able to choose your first profession. To unlock fishing, head to Melv’s Fishing Supplies, located near the bustling Town Square in Hopeport (a complete fishing map is included in the following section). The shop is run by Melv, a friendly merchant who will sell you your first Fishing Spear for 12 Silver.

If you don’t yet have the 12 Silver coins needed to buy the Fishing Spear, you can initially earn this money with the Chef profession, in the kitchen of the restaurant located across from the Apothecary (the place where you created your healing potion during the Heal Captain Degreene quest in the game’s tutorial).

This spear will be your starting tool for catching fish in some fishing areas around Hopeport. Melv, the NPC located there, will also be important for selling you (or allowing you to store in his shop’s bank) all the resources you need related to fishing.

Fishing Progression Guide – Brighter Shores

Now that you’ve seen our fishing map for Hopeport, we’ll walk you step-by-step through the best route to level up your fishing skill in Brighter Shores.

Catching Your First Fish in Brighter Shores

To get started, as mentioned earlier, you must go to location 1 on the map to purchase your Fishing Spear. With this, you’ll be able to catch your first level-0 fish in East Beach (circle number 2 on the map).

Our suggestion is to stay in this location until you reach level 2 in the fishing profession. At this point, you can move to location 3 on the map, where you’ll find an NPC in Eel Street who will buy your fish whenever you wish.

Level 2 to 20 – Gaining Efficiency and Understanding Fishing Progression

From level 2, we suggest fishing for eels at location 4 on the map (Eel Street Bridge). This location is advantageous because it is close to the NPC who buys your fish or to the kitchen bank if you choose to store your fish for future use in cooking.

Although not mentioned on the fishing map, we also suggest exploring the map to the right of Eel Street, where you will find Pupperfish, another good fishing option because of their proximity to the NPC buyer.

One good strategy at this point is to catch all the fish at Eel Street Bridge, then immediately move to catch all the fish at Willhope Crossing, and keep repeating this cycle between the two maps. This rotation is slightly more efficient than staying in just one map waiting for the fish to respawn, but it requires more attention from the fisherman.

With this understood, you can gain significant levels in these maps until you reach level 8 in fishing, where you’ll notice that the eels will change slightly. You’ve now encountered the game’s evolution system!

Fishing Spot Evolution

At certain levels, the fish in the map “evolve” and become better versions of that species. The following image illustrates these evolutions within the fishing skill screen in the game.

If you wish to purposely catch a lower-level version of a species of fish, you can click on it and choose the “Past Action” option from the menu.

Notice that these evolutions make your life easier, allowing you to stay in one fishing location for many levels while still catching high-level fish.

Also, this profession screen provides a very useful feature. By clicking the first icon to the right of each fish, you can see its location (provided you’ve already visited the map).

Another highly useful option is to click on the fish in your inventory and choose the “Info” option. This option is important because the fish (or any item) information card includes details on where to sell, use, or store that specific fish.

One more important tip is to make use of your “Sense” spell (received during the game’s tutorial) both to explore new maps and to see more precisely where the fish are on your screen. These tips will be more than enough for you to efficiently level up to level 20, where we will explore new mechanics within the fishing profession.

Level 20+ | How to Fish Offline

Starting at level 20, you unlock two new possibilities: the first is the use of Knowledge Points, which are earned after a certain number of actions. These points can be used to unlock offline activities or to gain additional experience and silver.

Offline activities allow you to gain experience passively, even when you are disconnected from the game. While the experience and silver gained from these activities do not compare to the rewards of active leveling, they remain excellent options for passive progression.

Offline activities are limited to 24 hours (extendable). To renew this time, simply log into the game, restart the activity, and disconnect again. These activities are identified by a blue dot in the professions menu, as shown in the “Dab” example.

How to Fish Offline in Brighter Shores?

The first requirement is to purchase the fishing rod that NPC Melv will sell starting at level 20. The second requirement is to unlock passive fishing for Dabs through the Knowledge Points menu, which is available at level 20. You will earn the necessary points by completing your usual activities in the game.

After meeting these requirements, you will need to buy fishing bait (Sea Slug) and some crates, both of which are sold by Melv. With these items in your inventory, head to location 5 on the map (Vacant Pier). There, you can click on the Dabs to start fishing, disconnect, and finally begin earning experience passively.

Advancing in Fishing – Tips to Become an Experienced Fisherman

Fishing in Brighter Shores is a dynamic activity that constantly offers new alternatives and tools to further enhance your profitability. Below, we’ll explore some of these more advanced options to refine your fishing experience in the game.

  • Fishing Nets: Starting at level 28, you’ll unlock the Cast Net, which can be purchased from Melv. With it, you’ll see a new option in the fishing menu: dual fishing, which grants more XP for both you and your fishing partner.
  • Lobster Pots: Unlocked at level 39, this is a new way to fish passively, ensuring even greater profitability for your gameplay.
  • Better Tools: An excellent way to improve your experience gain in fishing is to purchase upgraded tools from Melv’s shop, which grant more experience per catch. This is a highly worthwhile investment if you want fishing to be your primary profession in the game.
  • Quest – The Lost Shipment: Upon reaching level 25 in fishing, you can complete this quest to earn a significant amount of fishing and guard experience, along with a fun storyline.
  • Quest – Spider’s Nest: This is a slightly more challenging quest introduced in Episode 2, but it brings great benefits to your gameplay. After completing Spider’s Nest, you’ll be able to store certain fish (and other items) in strategic locations around the map, making fishing in more distant areas much easier and more efficient.
  • Enchantments: Once you have a more consistent source of income in the game, you can choose to enchant your tools, further increasing the experience gained with each fishing action.
